Jose Mourinho is excited about the signing of Victor Lindelof and has hinted towards more signings after pointing out the need for Manchester United to add both depth and quality to the squad.
Lindelof, 22, became Man United’s first signing this summer when he completed his move from SL Benfica but we are linked with moves for lots of other players including Alvaro Morata and Ivan Perisic.
Speaking about the signing of Lindelof, Mourinho pointed towards how good a talent the Swedish defender was and looked forward to him being welcomed into the squad.
“Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United,” Mourinho said.
“Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer. I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us.”
Lindelof is a brilliant addition and one which addresses a fundamental problem we had at centre-back last year but there is still so much work for Mourinho to do.
In midfield we are in need of a new defensive midfielder while in attack we simply have to sign a new striker and a winger if we’re going to have the options necessary to compete on all fronts next year, including the returning UEFA Champions League.
Mourinho made four signings in his first year as United boss and all went on to be excellent players in his debut season as United boss. There is every chance we’re going to make at least the same number of signings again this summer.
