Real Madrid have placed a £53m price tag on ostracised attacking midfielder James Rodriguez amid rumours of a potential move to Manchester United, according to reports.
Sky Sources reported last month that Rodriguez, signed for €80 million following a sensational 2014 World Cup with Columbia, would be offered to Man United this summer.
The 25-year-old, who considered a January move before being convinced otherwise by Zinedine Zidane, has pin-pointed Old Trafford as his preferred next destination should be elect to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
And according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Rodriguez will be allowed to leave if Jose Mourinho meets their asking price of £53m.
The report also states that the 54-year-old, who doesn’t view the Columbian as a top priority this summer, will only be prepared to shell out £35m for his services. And any move would only be possible if Wayne Rooney, who has attracted interest from various clubs, decides to leave due to Adidas’ requirement that he wears the No.10 shirt at Old Trafford.
Mourinho has notably gravitated away from Rodriguez over the last month and has seemingly placed emphasis on securing the more industrious Inter Milan and Croatia winger Ivan Perisic – alongside Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Torino’s Andrea Belotti – instead.
