Manchester United exploring Cristiano Ronaldo return this summer

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United are very much interested in re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and are exploring their options following reports he wants to leave Real Madrid.

Writing in The Times, Duncan Castles says Man United are looking at how viable a potential move for Ronaldo is and Castles is a journalist who knows his things when it comes to teams that Jose Mourinho manages – he’s got a good reputation in that sense.

As for United, I think regardless of Ronaldo’s tax issues and the situation that has created, it wouldn’t surprise me if Ed Woodward had already been looking into whether he could sign Ronaldo this summer. He’s got a hankering for marquee signings and none come bigger than Ronaldo, not as far as United fans are concerned.

Every single year I tell myself not to get caught up in any Ronaldo rumours but as soon as they come around I get sucked into it straight away and I get the feeling this summer is going to be the worst of it because there genuinely looks like there is a chance Ronaldo could leave.

Paul Pogba’s return to United was an incredible moment but if Ronaldo came home it would blow it completely out of the water and Castles reports that we’re definitely interested in making it happen. Hold on to your hats people, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
