Man United confirm departure of Josh Harrop to Preston North End

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have officially announced Josh Harrop will join Preston North End on July 1 when his contract expires.

Harrop, 21, scored a wonderful goal on his Man United debut on the final day of the 2015/16 Premier League season but it looks like he has decided to leave the club in order to chase regular first-team football elsewhere.

I’m sure he’ll be a great addition for Preston in the Championship and we wish him the best of luck there.

Reports suggested United offered Harrop a new contract, so he’s taken the decision to reject it and move elsewhere. It’s a bold choice but one which will hopefully allow Harrop to really develop rapidly with a lot of game time, so I more than understand his decision.

It’s a shame because Harrop would almost certainly have gone on the pre-season US tour but now he’s leaving United and he won’t be the last.

Good luck at Preston and hopefully you can tear it up in the Championship, Josh.
