Anthony Martial staying at Manchester United: “The rumours are false”

by Sam Peoples

Anthony Martial has completely shut down all rumours that his representatives have discussed an exit from Manchester United.

With one simple message on Twitter, Martial’s shown Man United fans he has absolutely no intention of going anywhere.

“The rumours are false”, he wrote with an accompanying red emoji. Manchester is red, Martial is red – he’s staying and that’s brilliant news.

Look, Martial didn’t have the best of seasons under Jose Mourinho in what was his second campaign with the club but the kid is an unreal talent and at 21 has so much more to grow as a player.

Next year I’ve got absolutely no doubt he can become the same Martial we saw in the first season and I do expect him to play more centrally in his favoured role as a striker, following the exit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the upcoming expected exit of Wayne Rooney.

Martial was mesmerising in his first year ever since he scored that wonderful goal on his debut and it’s refreshing to see a player willing to publicly denounce transfer gossip to give fans some clarity on the situation. I can’t wait to see him tear it up next season and once again show why he is still widely considered one of the best young footballers in world football.
