Former Barcelona and Brazil legend Ronaldinho has sent Marcus Rashford a message ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Jesse Lingard, who is currently holidaying in Miami with the 19-year-old, was seen with Ronaldinho – who retired from football in 2015 – earlier this month.

Former red Quentin Fortune recently revealed that 37-year-old, back in 2003, was on the verge of a move to Old Trafford, only to be discouraged by the gloomy Mancunian weather.

And the Brazilian, as loosely translated from Portuguese, has reminded Rashford of how much football lies ahead of him whilst praising the youngster for his humility.

The Englishman responded by labelling Ronaldinho as a “king” of the beautiful game and noting that the pair had a good chat.

Rashford and Ronaldinho, despite having notably different backgrounds, share one very important thing in common: that they enjoy football for football’s sake.

The Brazilian, as the game rapidly commercialised itself during the 21st century, refused to do anything other than enjoy his football as if he was enjoying a kick-about in his home town of Porto Alegre. And Rashford’s approach unavoidably espouses the same mantra – a key component to the devastating, and very often impossible to stop, rawness to his game at Old Trafford.
