Alvaro Morata has told friends his mind has been made up to join Manchester United as a deal has been reached with Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Spaniard has allegedly returned from his honeymoon this week for talks with Real president Florentino Perez as he looks for a decision to be made on his career.
Talks have helped push through negotiations between both clubs as Real look set to lower their £70million asking price and edge closer United’s £60m valuation of the 24-year-old.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants him to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front with the big Swede not offered a new contract following his serious knee injury.
The Portuguese boss has convinced Morata he is suited for football in the Premier League and can flourish on the big stage at Old Trafford.
Morata understands first-team football at United would help his main aim of being Spain’s No 9 at next summer’s World Cup, which doesn’t seem possible playing behind Karim Benzema at Madrid.
He struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s side on a regular basis even though he managed to pick up 15 goals from 26 games.
It seems like he could be set to test himself in the Premier League as Mourinho won’t be giving up on getting him in at United shirt.
