Jesse Lingard has been spotted putting in some early preparations ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season.
The 24-year-old, who made 42 appearances in total last season, was handed a new lucrative £100,000 a week contract back in April.
Man United’s pre-season begins on July 9 and their first game of their tour kicks off on the 15th against LA Galaxy and ends with a European Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on August 8.
And Lingard, who has been seen enjoying himself in Dubai and Miami in recent weeks, is now back at the Richardson athlete monitoring facility as he looks to get in shape ahead of the tour.
The Englishman has just completed his first full season at Old Trafford and he can be pleased with the platform he has set for himself: a mainstay in the senior side, now with a new contract and plenty of football lying ahead.
His indefatigable, terrier-like work rate has clearly appealed to Mourinho, but as the Portuguese looks to strengthen United’s attacking frontier and refine their potency in front of goal, you sense Lingard will need to offer something extra next term if he is to maintain his place in the starting XI.
