He’s been a vital player at Old Trafford this season and was voted the club’s player of the season for 16/17 following his impressive performances.
The Spaniard helped the side win the Europa League and League Cup and has been heavily linked with a £35.2m move to the Catalan club, after joining United for £29m in the summer of 2014.
Herrera has been identified as Barcelona’s Plan B as they push for Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti in a deal which could reach £100m.
Independent claim United will refuse to sell him and it would take a bid of around £60m for them to even consider the deal for a player they see as a future captain.
There has been no official approach for the player yet as Barcelona are unwilling to match that fee, even with new boss Ernesto Valverde being a huge fan of Herrera following their time together at Athletic Bilbao.
Herrera only has 12 months remaining on his current United deal but the club have the option of extending it for a year, with a new contract expected to be signed following the transfer window.
