Everton still interested in signing Wayne Rooney this summer – report

Everton have not cancelled out a move to bring Wayne Rooney back to Goodison Park, according to Sky Sports.

It’s likely for him to leave Manchester United this summer as he’s had limited opportunities at Old Trafford, losing his automatic starter status for club and country.

BBC claim there is no deal in place as he could be forced to go to China or America and his massive wages may mean he stays and sits out his final year.

He arrived at Old Trafford in 2004 as an 18-year-old and has previously claimed that the Toffees remain one of only two Premier League clubs he would happily play for.

Rooney hasn’t been the same in recent years and even though he’s now the club’s all-time top goalscorer, he just hasn’t given enough to warrant a place in the team.

Mourinho has confirmed he’d love to have the Englishman for another year but it doesn’t seem likely as he wasn’t happy with his lack of game time.

If there aren’t any clubs willing to pay his massive wages then he’ll have no choice but to stay at United until his contract runs out, but it seems his future is still very much uncertain.
