Manchester United are closing in on a move for Ivan Perisic as Inter Milan are already pursuing a potential replacement, according to Sky Italia.
The Old Trafford club had almost given up on a potential transfer after being put off by a £45million-plus price tag.
However, Perisic has been instructing his agent to force a move as he’d like to prove himself in England and play underneath Jose Mourinho.
United are growing increasingly confident that they’ll be able to secure a cut-price deal, especially if Perisic is already trying to push Inter into a corner over a potential move.
Inter have stepped up their pursuit of Fiorentina’s Borja Valero as they don’t want to be left without any alternatives if Perisic forces through a move.
He’d be the first midfield arrival in Milan this summer and would pave the way for Perisic to leave as Man United have been left frustrated with Ed Woodward’s inability to get a deal over the line.
Despite completing the signing of Victor Lindelof, United have been slow off the mark this summer and will be hoping to step it up as Mourinho previously stated he wants all of his targets on the plane to America for the pre-season tour.
