Real Madrid’s main goalkeeping target Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed a new deal with AC Milan, which could pave the way for the La Liga champions to re-open their interest in David de Gea.
The Italian wonder-kid appeared destined for a move to the Bernabeu after rejecting a new contract with the Rossoneri earlier this month.
Florentino Perez, in turn, noted that there was no interest in De Gea whilst welcoming the prospect of Donnarumma coming to the club.
However, the stakes may have changed after Sky Sports revealed that the teenager had made a U-turn on his initial decision to leave the San Siro.
But with that move now botched, the Frenchman could re-centre his attention around De Gea, who once again emerged as a persistent figure of interest during the latter stages of last season.
However, with Champions League football guaranteed for next year and the keeper reportedly in no rush to leave Old Trafford, you sense that Madrid would have to produce a massive bid to prize him away from Jose Mourinho’s claws.
