Gary Neville has taken to social media to share his thoughts on Romelu Lukaku’s transfer to Manchester United.
The Belgian has left Everton this summer and although he was expected to join Chelsea after Antonio Conte had been in talks with Lukaku for several weeks, he has chosen the Old Trafford switch.
Man United agreed on a transfer fee of £75 million to secure his services at Old Trafford and even though Chelsea had matched the offer, Mino Raiola guided a transfer through, as Conte’s side were unable to match his agent fees.
Speaking about the move, Neville admits he’s not always been Lukaku’s biggest supporter.
“He’s incredibly talented and I’ve seen him destroy defences but personally, I’ve never been his biggest fan. However, he will score goals,” he said.
“He went missing in too many matches I saw, but with a better team and players around him he has an improved chance to deliver in big matches.”
He hasn’t always performed at Everton, but with an improved side around him at United, there’s no doubt he has what it takes to perform.
United struggled to finish chances last season even though they created the goal-scoring opportunities and Lukaku’s addition is a step in the right direction.
