Manchester United target Fabinho has told Monaco he wants to leave in the summer transfer window, according to L’Equipe.
The Brazillian has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and although Paris Saint-Germain have submitted a bid, Monaco are unwilling to strengthen a rival.
He played 49 games last season, helping Monaco secure the Ligue 1 title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, where he impressed Europe’s elite.
A number of Monaco’s key players have been associated with summer moves as Tiemoue Bakayoko, Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe are also expected to follow Bernardo Silva out the door.
Man United have expressed their interest in Fabinho’s services and after PSG’s bid was rejected, they are now winning the race to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.
Monaco hold the cards as he still has four years left on his current deal and they’ll be looking for the best possible fee if they let him leave this summer.
It’s clear Mourinho is closing in on his summer targets after being left disappointed by the lack of progress earlier in the window and after Romelu Lukaku made the move, we could see others join him.
