Gary Neville thanks Wayne Rooney for his service at Manchester United

Gary Neville has sent a message to Wayne Rooney following his summer move from Manchester United back to boyhood club Everton.

He re-joined the Merseyside club 13 years after leaving to make the Old Trafford switch and was allowed to leave on a free transfer as Man United acquired the services of Romelu Lukaku.

Rooney is the club’s all-time record goal-scorer, has won every club trophy possible to win at least once and will always be remembered for his incredible service to the course at United.

Speaking about his time at Old Trafford, Neville was full of praise for Rooney.

His comments may be questionable as he played alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Eric Cantona, and even Cristiano Ronaldo, however, it’s his opinion.

Rooney has been an amazing player and I’m proud to say that I got to watch him each week giving his best to the team, under different managers, in different positions and with different roles.

He’s always listened to instructions and put the team in front of himself which is why I hope he’ll continue to be massively successful at Everton.
