Manchester United are still well in the hunt for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic and are confident that this week can see a deal finally pushed over the line.
Miguel Delaney from The Independent reports that the issue still lies in the valuation of Perisic with Man United refusing to pay the full £50m asking price Inter Milan have put on the Croatian winger.
Our move for Perisic, 28, was considered dead in the water after the Serie A side made up the €30m they needed to pay money they needed to balance the books for Financial Fair Play following their 2015 fine. We were playing chicken with Inter, hoping they didn’t make the money needed and would instead have to accept our £35m bid for Perisic which, of course, didn’t happen.
But the United and Perisic links are not going away in the slightest. Perisic himself is loving the attention having posted cryptic clues hinting that he might be on his way out of Inter Milan but until there is an agreement in price, United giving Inter what they want, Perisic won’t be following Victor Lindelof or Romelu Lukaku.
We’ll continue to update you on the Perisic links whenever there are updates but by the sounds of it, Jose Mourinho is refusing to give up on the player and wants Ed Woodward to find that price which Inter and United both agree with.
