Ed Woodward has stayed in the UK as Manchester United hope to conclude their summer transfer business, according to reports.
He was not with Jose Mourinho and the rest of his squad when they flew out to Los Angeles on Sunday.
However, he is expected to arrive early next week as the Portuguese boss remains eager to complete his summer business so any new signings can join up with the rest of the squad.
Woodward is believed to be very busy working on potential deals for Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan and a new holding midfielder, with Eric Dier and Nemanja Matic the main targets.
Mourinho was pleased to have Romelu Lukaku’s services for United’s first training session at UCLA on Monday after previously being disappointed that Victor Lindelof was the only new arrival on the plane for the tour, with the Belgian meeting up with the players afterwards, having already been in LA all week with Paul Pogba.
Woodward is still in negotiations for Mourinho’s remaining targets but with Inter and Tottenham playing hardball over deals for Perisic and Dier, there’s still plenty of work that needs to be done to get a deal over the line.
