Inter Milan step up their search for Ivan Perisic replacement

by Leo Nieboer

Inter Milan have stepped up their pursuit of an Ivan Perisic replacement as the Croat draws closer to a move to Manchester United.

The Serie A side have refused to budge on their £48m valuation of the 29-year-old ever since negotiations began, with Man United’s offer of £30m – the amount needed to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulations – being baulked at by the chiefs at the San Siro

And United, determined to sign Perisic before Inter fly off to China for their pre-season tour next week, will now look to step up their efforts to sign the winger.

Inter, in turn, have started to turn their focus towards securing a replacement as the Croat looks set on a move to Old Trafford, according to M.E.N.

The entire Perisic fiasco has been one of simultaneous stagnancy and ambiguity: various reports have stated a litany of sums offered by United, ranging from £30m to £50m, complimented by the inevitable ‘deal is close’ headline.

But two things have remained consistent and indeed knowable throughout: firstly, that Inter aren’t budging on their price, and secondly that Perisic wants out.

United know this, and it seems as if, finally, they are starting to push this deal towards some kind of conclusion.
