Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Juventus have made Manchester United target Nemanja Matic a top priority in this summer’s transfer window.
The Serbian international, despite Chelsea’s reluctance to do business with Jose Mourinho after seeing Romelu Lukaku snatched from under their noses, still wants to join Man United and fellow teammates believe a move away is imminent.
Antonio Conte, according to reports, has entered negotiations with Inter Milan over the 28-year-old in an attempt to stave off United.
And according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus will take advantage of Chelsea’s determination to offload Matic to anyone other than United and have made signing the midfielder a top priority.
The Italian champions may also be wary of Alex Sandro possibly departing the Old Lady this summer to join Conte at Chelsea and see a potential swap-deal in the offing. They have been frequently linked with other United targets such as Blaise Matuidi and Fabinho, but haven’t actually signed anybody yet.
But amid all the tension between clubs during this turbulent period, it may be worth considering what Matic himself would want: surely Mourinho, a man he has worked – and won – under before, can convince the Serb to aid his side’s assault on the title next year, forcing Chelsea’s hand in the process.
