Jose Mourinho impressed with Luke Shaw’s attitude and determination

Luke Shaw will be given the opportunity to establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice left-back, according to the Guardian.

He has impressed Jose Mourinho with his attitude and determination to take on board his demands and seems to have won over the Portuguese boss in the process.

The Englishman’s career at Old Trafford seemed to be in doubt last season, especially after Mourinho’s serial criticism, questioning his attitude, positioning and basic understanding of the game.

He’s endured a tough time since his move from Southampton in 2014, sustaining 17 injuries or illnesses, including a horrific leg break in September 2015.

Shaw turned 22 on Wednesday and was included in the training camp for the game against LA Galaxy at the StubHub Center on Saturday, as he impressed staff at Carrington with his commitment to making himself available.

He is continuing his rehabilitation from season-ending ankle ligament damage suffered in April, training alone away from the main group at the UCLA complex in Westwood.

There’s a slim chance he’ll be fit enough for West Ham United’s visit to Old Trafford on 13 August for the season opener, but it seems like he’s seriously impressed Mourinho, which is the most important thing for him at this time.
