Romelu Lukaku has made his debut for Manchester United in their opening game of the pre-season tour of America against LA Galaxy.
The Belgian joined from Everton this summer, completing a move worth over £75m and has filled a gap left in the squad by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure.
He was introduced by the Portuguese boss at the start of the second-half and made an instant impact, holding the ball up, showcasing skill and an immense amount of strength.
Combined with Paul Pogba, they both give us such an advantage in attacking positions, with their height and strength, completely controlling the ball in dangerous spaces by denying LA Galaxy possession.
Even for Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal for the fourth of the game, Lukaku displayed a very smart understanding of the game, timing his run perfectly alongside the American to drop LA Galaxy defenders, leaving areas of the pitch open to create the goal. Which he replicated again for Anthony Martial‘s goal as he went to the near post and created, even more space for the play.
It was great to see him in action and even after such a small period of time with the rest of the players, Lukaku has proven he can perform by linking up well with the squad and creating good chances.
