Karl-Heinze Rummenigge: Renato Sanches is for sale for €48m

Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinze Rummenigge has said Renato Sanches is for sale this summer and even named his price at €48m which a club would need to pay.

Manchester United were in for Sanches previously but dithered too long before Bayern Munich swooped in to sign him in a matter of days after their interest was first registered. However, the young Portuguese midfielder has since played very little game time at Bayern Munich and the German side are now ready to move him on for the right price.

Speaking about Sanches, Rummenigge said: “He [Renato Sanches] won’t have lot of game next season and we are open to discuss his possible sale.

“We can sell him on loan or on a permanent deal, I am not the manager but I believe Renato needs regular game time.”

“AC Milan are interested in signing him, I can confirm that, but talks have been put on hold after last week’s meeting.”

“Clubs interested must be aware that they’d need a huge offer to sign him and I believe AC Milan can’t match our asking price. I think that an offer in the region of €48 million could be enough to sign him.”

Back in the summer of 2016, Mourinho said he would have fought to sign Sanches had he been appointed United boss earlier but it was something that was out of is hands by the time he arrived.

“I arrived late,” Mourinho said.

“I signed in May, we started talking a week before, but completely out of the process.

“If I had arrived earlier, I’d fight for him.

“Manchester United watched Renato many times and maybe I did it even more.

“In so much time at home, I watched many Benfica and Portuguese league games, I got to know the boy better with time.

“He’s in a big club, in a league where he’ll certainly be the champion. The club have players of very high level which belong to the structure, a little like Benfica.”

So, with United in need of a new midfielder and Sanches available in the market, will Mourinho go out to try and sign Sanches again? In the grand scheme of things, €48m isn’t a bad price for a player with so much promise who was named the Euro 2016 Young Player of the Tournament.

We certainly need new blood in midfield and given how complicated our pursuit of Ivan Perisic has been, any United fan would welcome a simple move for Sanches. Bayern want to sell, they have named their price and Sanches would jump at the opportunity of working underneath Mourinho.

Your move, Jose.
