Wolfsburg interested in signing Manchester United’s Anthony Martial on loan – report

Wolfsburg are interested in signing Manchester United’s Anthony Martial on a loan basis this summer, according to reports from Germany.

Inter Milan are also believed to be keen on securing the Frenchman’s services for next season as part of a deal that would see winger Ivan Perisic go the other way.

Martial’s cousin recently confirmed that the 21-year-old had received interest from elsewhere but insisted he was firmly focused on working hard with Man United ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

And according to German outlet Kicker (via Sport Witness), Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe has expressed interest in signing the youngster on loan.

I will never understand why other clubs – especially ones like Inter, Ajax and Wolfsburg – can think they can simply pinch Martial on loan, as a part deal, or even at an insulting lesser price.

He had a difficult season last year and that does inevitably lead to various clubs offering a safety net elsewhere, but some perspective and indeed respect is required here, I think.

Firstly, one shabby campaign, which still contained good performances here and there, does not translate to a sudden need for pastures new. It is a learning process, above anything. Martial will be stronger because of it.

And secondly, loan moves are for players like Adnan Januzaj who haven’t impressed in over two years, and not for somebody with Martial’s frightening talent.
