Jose Mourinho confirms return dates for injured Manchester United players

Jose Mourinho has confirmed the return dates for his injured players at Manchester United, with none of them returning in time for the start of the Premier League season.

Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and Marcos Rojo all attended the Europa League final in May on crutches as they’ve suffering long-term injuries.

Rojo ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Anderlecht in April before Shaw had endured a foot injury later that month, while Young was forced to undergo groin surgery after pulling up at Celta Vigo.

Speaking about the trio, Mourinho said Shaw would be the first to return to fitness.

“No chance for the beginning of the Premier League,” he said. “Shaw is the first one to recover, Marcos will be the last one and Ashley in between.

“So I would say Luke September, Young October, Marcos December, even January, but it’s good to have them.

“It’s good for them to be with us, to recover with the group and I have to say the group is really strong and really together and, for them, important to be with us than working in Manchester alone.”

It’s a shame that they won’t be back in action, however, they’ve been working very hard as both Shaw and Young returned to United’s Carrington training complex early in June to continue their rehabilitation.

The trio have been with the rest of the squad in the United States and although they’ve been training in different groups, Mourinho has been well aware of their circumstances.
