Manchester United set to make offer for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio – report

Manchester United will table an “incredible offer” for Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio this summer, according to reports from Spain.

The 21-year-old arrived at the Bernabeu last summer and immediately impressed with his direct, powerful style going forward.

He claimed ten goals in all competitions overall, most notably scoring in the Champions League final, before starring for Spain in the European Under 21 Championships earlier this summer.

And according to Spanish outlet Don Balon (via M.E.N), the Spanish international has emerged on Jose Mourinho’s radar as he looks to bolster his attacking frontier.

The 54-year-old deserves praise for further dabbling in the market for strikers. Mark my words: Romelu Lukaku is not enough, especially for a side that claimed less Premier League goals than AFC Bournemouth last year.

And there are fewer prospects more exciting than Asensio: physically imposing, deceptively fast, in sync with a ruthless winning mentality at the Bernabeu. He could be the real deal.

But that is exactly why the idea of prizing him away from Zinedine Zidane is ludicrous. He is their golden boy – a Marcus Rashford figure, if you will – and following recent sagas surrounding David de Gea and Alvaro Morata you can’t imagine Madrid being too keen to once again sit down at a negotiating table with United any time soon.
