Verratti has emerged as a top target for Jose Mourinho recently with Chelsea refusing to negotiate their £50m valuation of Nemanja Matic.
Vice chairman Ed Woodward has stepped up the pursuit of Verratti as he signed Mino Raiola as his agent, with Barcelona reportedly cooling their interest last week.
A deal has stalled as PSG have told Man United a move for Verratti will only move forward if Martial is part of the deal.
Man United are unwilling to allow Martial to leave, previously turning down attempts from Inter Milan and Wolfsburg, however, they remain confident a deal could be met without the Frenchman.
Raiola negotiated Paul Pogba’s transfer from Juventus as well as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Romelu Lukaku also making the move to Old Trafford, it’s looking good so far.
Mourinho has allegedly been a long-term admirer of deep lying midfielder Verratti, and with Inter and Real playing hardball this summer with his targets, he could be forced into making a move for the player as he hopes to conclude business ahead of a big season in the Champions League and Premier League.
