Gareth Bale has spoken out about his conversation with Romelu Lukaku moments after Manchester United’s pre-season friendly with Real Madrid.
Man United came to a 2-1 victory on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, with goals from Jesse Lingard and Casemiro.
The game finished with a poor penalty shoot-out in which just three of the ten spot-kicks taken by both sides were scored, with David de Gea also making two incredible saves from the spot.
After the game, Bale opened up about what he was talking about with Lukaku.
“I just wished him good luck – obviously he’s just signed there,” he said.
“I just wished him luck for the season and hope he has a great season.
“He’s been playing long enough, he’s done very well in the Premier League and I’m sure he’ll do great for them.”
He had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, however, Mourinho confirmed Man United had made no efforts to sign the Welshman as he was happy in Spain.
Bale also addressed speculation, claiming he’s happy with his current role in the squad at Real and is completely focused on having a good pre-season.
