Manchester United were close to signing Renato Sanches from SL Benfica back in 2016 but Bayern Munich swooped and the young Portuguese midfielder moved to the German champions instead.

Now, in the summer of 2017 after a season in the shadows at Bayern, Sanches is once again being linked with a move to Man United after Bayern CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenigge confirmed he was available for just €48m – a relative bargain in the current market, especially for somebody with their whole career ahead of them aged just 19.
