AC Milan will beat Manchester United to the signing of Bayern Munich teenager Renato Sanches, according to L’Equipe.
They claim he has agreed on a move to Milan in a cut-price £35million deal after struggling for game time with the Bundesliga champions.
He has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar since last season where the Portuguese boss claimed he would have been in for him if he had arrived at Old Trafford sooner.
Milan have invested heavily this window, and although Sanches still has four years left to run on his deal, the fact that he has featured just 17 times for Bayern last term, has forced him to take his career elsewhere.
Sanches enjoyed an incredible rise to prominence after helping Portugal win Euro 2016 but had made it clear he was not happy with his current situation and wanted to go somewhere he would play more regularly.
It’s a shame because after we missed out on Sanches the first time round everyone knew the talent that we had let slip through our fingers, but if United were in for him again, it’s embarrassing that they have moved too slow, especially with the difficulties we’ve faced in signing targets this summer.
