Andreas Pereira has given his thoughts following Manchester United’s 1-0 pre-season defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night.
Neymar got the better of Antonio Valencia to power home a deserved Barcelona opener in the first half following a sustained period of pressure from the Brazilian, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
Pereira replaced Jesse Lingard in the second half and helped mount some late pressure on Ernesto Valverde’s men with a couple of fizzing shots.
And the Brazilian, speaking to MUTV after the game, noted that the defeat will prove useful for Jose Mourinho’s men as they fly back to Carrington for further preparations.
“Yes it was a tough test and good for us in preparation. We will definitely use that in competition,” he said.
“It worked us harder, you get more prepared for games and we get more of a test and it was a test for them because we are a big team too.”
Pereira entered the fray just when proceedings were starting to go down a few gears in ferocity, which makes any comparison with the anonymous Henrikh Mkhitaryan slightly redundant, but the Brazilian was nevertheless an effervescent figure during the latter stages.
The road is long, but this was another promising chapter in his bid to consolidate a place in the first team next season.
