Ivan Perisic could extend Inter Milan contract after failed Man United move – report

Ivan Perisic could extend his current Inter Milan contract if Manchester United do not match his asking price, according to reports.

The Serie A club are hoping to pick up €55m for his services, although Man United are unwilling to match that price for the Croation.

Negotiations are said to stretch back to March as Coach Luciano Spalletti has confirmed a right offer has not come through for Perisic yet.

They were willing to move down from their asking price but only if Anthony Martial was included in a loan deal, which is something the club are not prepared to sanction.

Reports claim Inter are convinced Man United won’t raise their bid and are therefore drawing up a contract extension to reassure the 28-year-old of his place in the team, even though his current deal runs to June 2020.

It’s a shame because Mourinho was hoping to sign him before Inter’s pre-season tour, but Ed Woodward can’t commit to deals with the Italian club if they’re being unreasonable.

He may be forced to pull out of a move and turn his attention elsewhere as United with Romelu Lukaku, moving their efforts away from Alvaro Morata’s Real Madrid.
