Manchester United given encouragement in their pursuit of Gareth Bale – report

Manchester United have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, according to Telegraph’s James Ducker.

He has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford since they tried to sign the Welshman in 2007 before he joined Spurs, failing with a £103 million bid to hijack his move to Real four years ago.

However, Man United could be about to make a fresh move for Bale after Zinedine Zidane admitted he could not guarantee Bale will stay at the Bernabeu this summer.

Real are hoping to sign France striker Kylian Mbappe from Monaco in a potential £161 million world record deal which has raised questions of Bale’s future.

He has been identified as the most expendable out of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo after his battles with injury and struggles to keep playmaker Isco from the team.

Real have brought in around £90 million in sales this summer, however, still need to raise more as they hope to fund a move for Mbappe, although Bale would be an exceptional player at Old Trafford, there’s still a slim chance we’ll see him actually make the move as we’ve seen him linked with United time and time again.
