Jose Mourinho has expressed his satisfaction with the way Manchester United’s pre-season preparations went ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Man United spent two and a half weeks touring the United States and claimed wins over LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City and Real Madrid, with their only defeat coming against Barcelona.
They returned to Europe last week and have claimed wins over Valerenga and Samporia ahead of their clash with Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in August 8.
And Mourinho, speaking after the 2-1 win over Sampdoria, noted that, while he didn’t care about results, there was plenty to be pleased about going into the new campaign.
In Mourinho’s mind, pre-season has gone well for a number of reasons: the first being that no major injuries were suffered and the second being that, unlike last year, they have not ran into any logistical problems and enjoyed excellent facilities in Los Angeles (better than Madrid).
More importantly, however, with seven games under their belt United will feel in excellent shape ahead of the opening month. And the fact that Mourinho has managed to try out systems with both three and four at the back could prove to be crucial further down the line.
