Guardian: Timothy Fosu-Mensah likely to leave Manchester United on loan – report

by Leo Nieboer

Timothy Fosu-Mensah will leave Manchester United on loan this summer in order to receive more game time, according to the Guardian.

The Dutchman, who made his debut back in February 2016, only managed three starts last season and has attracted interest from Watford and Crystal Palace.

Jose Mourinho will only make a decision over certain outgoings following Man United’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

But according to the Guardian’s Jamie Jackson, the 19-year-old has already made a decision to move elsewhere for more game time this season.

Fosu-Mensah has been an indomitable, athletic force at right back in pre-season, nullifying a left hand side comprising of Gareth Bale and Marcelo in recent times, and deserves a chance to impress on a regular basis elsewhere.

And the teenager has earned the right to remain in the Premier League following a string of powerful displays across the back four over the last 18 months. In terms of physique, technical capacity on the ball and overall temperament, he is already at the standards of maturity to thrive in England’s top division.

Crystal Palace, managed by Frank de Boer, serves as the best option: the manager knows Fosu-Mensah from his Ajax days and needs a right back as the transfer window enters its latter stages.
