Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update ahead of the opening Premier League game of the season against West Ham on Sunday, claiming Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are unavailable.

The trio were also included in the travelling squad for the pre-season tour, however, trained separately as the continue their rehabilitation at Old Trafford.

Mourinho has already confirmed the months when they will be back, Luke September, Young October and Marcos December, even January.

Here’s what Mourinho had to say in his press conference ahead of the clash.

Rojo ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Anderlecht in April before Shaw had endured a foot injury later that month, while Young was forced to undergo groin surgery after pulling up at Celta Vigo.

It’s a shame that they’ve been ruled out but it’s clear that they have been working hard on their rehabilitation ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Portuguese boss may even sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again after Christmas as he wasn’t offered a new deal because of his serious injury, it’s not ideal, but Mourinho knows his options and understands how to rotate his players to avoid picking up any more injuries.
