Manchester United considering activating Sergi Roberto’s release clause – report

Manchester United are considering the option to activate Barcelona star Sergi Roberto’s release clause, according to multiple sources.

Spanish publication Don Balon says the midfielder is unimpressed by Paulinho’s arrival and his eagerness to pick up playing time, while Mundo Deportivo claim he is re-thinking his future this summer.

He was among the substitutes for the Spanish Super Cup clash with Real Madrid on Sunday night and has been forced into considering his future with the prospect of losing out on much-needed minutes this campaign.

His contract allegedly includes a £36.5m release clause, which Man United and Chelsea could easily match if they hope to secure his services.

Although he’s ready to fight for his place in the side at the moment, he could leave the Camp Nou if he opts for more first-team minutes.

United are waiting in the wings ready to pounce and £36.5m seems like a bargain, especially in the current market, and it’s not surprising for that price that we’ve seen so many clubs linked with him this summer as they all join the race for his services.

He has always been vocal of his intent to succeed at Barcelona, but recent reports could get him thinking about his place in the side as he looks to make a name for himself.
