Jose Mourinho insists Anthony Martial is blessed with talent at Manchester United, claiming he should have a big season ahead.

The Frenchman was spectacular during his debut season at Old Trafford, however, under Jose Mourinho, he had failed to lock down a place in the first-team and struggled to keep up his consistency.

He has kicked off the new Premier League season in great form, picking up two goals and one assist from just 35 minutes of game time in the first two games against West Ham United and Swansea City.

Speaking of his talent, Mourinho addressed their relationship at Old Trafford.

“I think when you have some talent, you cannot waste it,” Mourinho said of Martial.

“I think when you’re blessed with some talent, you have to fulfill that talent, you have to explore that talent, you cannot be happy just with glimpses of talent.

“I want more from him because he has all the qualities for that. But I think he understands me better too and the personal relation [between us] is good, so again Anthony, I hope he’s going to better this season than last season.”

He’s been vital at Old Trafford and hopes are he can continue his form for a big season ahead, as Mourinho suggests.

The next stop for Martial is cementing his place in the first-team as he looks to make a mark under the Portuguese boss this campaign.
