The Brazilian spent last season on loan in La Liga, playing for Granada, and dazzled despite seeing his side slump to relegation, making 37 appearances and claiming five goals.
He returned to the first team squad for pre-season and insisted he would not seek another loan move elsewhere and instead fight for his place under Jose Mourinho.
But with first team opportunities looking hard to come by, the Sun’s Jack Tambourine has confirmed that Pereira will now join Valencia on loan for the 2017/18 season.
Valencia general director, Mateu Alemany, recently confirmed that a deal for the attacking midfielder was in place.
“I don’t like to reveal names or discuss operations but they (Pereira and Guedes) are two players that interest us,” he said.
“There are others. We shall see.”
Supporters would have wanted to see Pereira feature this season, but the competition is just too fierce for the youngster to ever have a meaningful chance of receiving a regular first team place – especially if Mourinho continues to use him as a midfielder as he did over pre-season.
A move back to La Liga, where he excelled last season, makes perfect sense as an alternative.
