Report – Mourinho blames Paul Pogba for Frenchman’s hamstring injury

by Harry Robinson

José Mourinho is reportedly furious with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for picking up a serious hamstring injury that will rule the Frenchman out for up to six weeks.

The 24-year-old is said to have been using a personal trainer and fitness regime against club orders. Mourinho allegedly feels the result of that is Pogba hobbling off just 19 minutes into Man United’s 3-0 victory against FC Basel.

Duncan Castles tweeted on Thursday night: “Am told that Paul Pogba’s hamstring injury is a result of the player training privately against club advice.”

Pogba picked up a couple of hamstring tweaks last season, missing a number of games. According to The Sun‘s Martin Lipton, the club gave Pogba guidance to prevent a recurrence of those injuries.

Pogba has supposedly received treatment from a personal trainer rather than sticking to the guidance offered by United’s medical department.

If true, Mourinho will be disappointed in the player he handed the captain’s armband to on Tuesday night. While it shows a desire from Pogba to improve and take himself to the next level, United’s medical department should have a higher standing than his own personal trainer.

The Frenchman will definitely miss games against Everton, Burton Albion, Southampton, CSKA Moscow and Crystal Palace. He may just return in time for the October 14th clash with Liverpool, though he’s unlikely to be fully fit.
