Marcus Rashford steals the show against Burton Albion

Marcus Rashford produced a dazzling performance at No.9 during Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Burton Albion in the League Cup.

The 19-year-old was handed his first chance to start up front this season and took full advantage, producing a crisp finish after just four minutes before firing home a powerful drive from distance 13 minutes later.

And he wasn’t done there, harassing Burton’s back four with a series of penetrating runs and providing an inch-perfect assist for Anthony Martial on the hour mark.

His stats from the game shed light on just how devastating he was going forward all evening.

Rashford will be properly judged in games of greater magnitude, of course, but his demolition job of Burton’s hopes of an upset early in the first half served to remind the watching world of just how scarily talented he is at such a young age, and how far he has come over the last year.

The fact that this scintillating display came as no surprise is a testament to the hard work Rashford has dedicated to maturing various aspects of his game under Mourinho. His touch, positional sense, composure on the ball and, of course, precision in front of goal belongs to a hardened Premier League player – not a teenager.
