Marouane Fellaini and Nemanja Matic were both seen limping onto the team bus following Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Belgian was clattered by Shane Long in the second half, with the Irishman picking up a yellow card for his troubles, while Matic didn’t appear to suffer any notable afflictions during the game.
Jose Mourinho will not want to lose another midfielder to injury after Paul Pogba was sidelined for four to six weeks with a hamstring injury against FC Basel earlier this month.
But the boss may have something of a headache on his hands ahead of his side’s trip to CSKA Moscow on Wednesday after journalist Simon Peach confirmed that the pair were seen limping onto the team coach.
This may well be nothing, and the fact that Mourinho didn’t mention anything after the game can only be a positive sign. United went through a bruising ordeal at Saint Mary’s. They have ripped through sides this season but they hand to grind this time around: a few battle scars and bruises are inevitable.
Supporters will just hope that the pair can shake off any lingering afflictions in time for the important trip to Moscow during the week.
