Jose Mourinho has made it clear that Michael Carrick has ‘no chance’ of recovering in time for Manchester United’s clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday in the Premier League.
The Englishman, who made his first appearance of the season against Burton Albion last week, didn’t travel with the Man United squad for their 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow after picking up a knock.
Paul Pogba continues to sit out with a hamstring problem while Marouane Fellaini didn’t travel either after picking up a knock to the ankle against Southampton.
And Mourinho, speaking on BT Sport after the win in Moscow, noted that Carrick has absolutely no chance of featuring against Roy Hodgson’s men on Saturday.

The 54-year-old did add that he was more hopeful of seeing Fellaini return in time, despite initially ruling him out for Saturday’s clash.
You sense that Mourinho will need to make some kind of change in midfield after Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera completed 90 minutes against Moscow. Surely Matic, having played two full games over the four days, will need a rest on Saturday, even if he didn’t show many signs of waning during a dominant performance in Russia.
Supporters will just hope to see Fellaini return on Saturday and allow Mourinho to rotate his squad in an attempt to avoid an accumulation of injuries.
