Manchester United scouts watch Krépin Diatta who reveals “dream” to join club

Young Sarpsborg forward Krepin Diatta has admitted it would be a “dream come to true” to join Manchester United.

Scouts from Man United have scouted 18-year-old Diatta on a number of occasions in the last year and a half, and the striker’s agent confirmed conversations had been held twice.

Youssoupha Fall said that he had “spoken to Manchester United’s scouts twice” about Diatta, at both the U20 World Cup and “again after the [league] game against Brann.”

United scouts were once again present at Sarpsborg’s game last weekend as they faced Odd.

Asked about the presence of figures from the Reds, Diatta said: “I didn’t know they scouted me today, but to join them would be a dream come true.”

Speaking to TV2, he said, “I think I’m good enough, but I play for Sarpsborg and love this club. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

The Senegalese forward signed a new four-year deal at Sarpsborg in February, and has already played 19 times for the first time, scoring seven goals.

Diatta’s also played for his country’s under-20 side, where United have scouted him previously, on nine occasions, netting twice.

The Reds’ scouting network has been increased extensively by Ed Woodward in 2017, with over 50 new scouts appointed globally.

United can now be said to have one of the finest scouting networks in the world, and are finding some of the best young talent around.

Though Diatta is 18, United brought in a number of talented 16-year-olds this summer, Arnau Puigmal and Aliou Traoré among others, to join as academy scholars. For now, the recruitment drive continues.
