Anthony Martial scored his 30th goal for Manchester United in a stunning performance against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night. His vision, passing and composed finishing were all on display as he almost single-handedly dispatched the Russian team.
As the stats show, Martial was key in opening up Moscow’s defence in a game that many were expecting to be tougher than the scoreline suggests. Two assists and three chances created are testament to his ability to find a teammate and his unselfish character.
The Frenchman was crucial to his team’s performance, stretching the opposition as he provided three crosses for his on-rushing teammates to get on the end of. Despite scoring just the single goal, he did manage to grab himself another shot on target and had it not been for a good save, he may have converted it.

Martial dribbled his way into Manchester United fans hearts on his debut vs Liverpool and proved he hasn’t lost his touch since with six take-ons to his name before being substituted for Marcus Rashford. Notorious for ruining careers with his feet, Anthony was a little merciful and instead played the creator role well.
Jose Mourinho’s selection headaches have not been made any easier by Anthony’s performance as he continues to respond to Rashford’s good form. The former Monaco man’s current stats read at six goals and three assists in just four starts across all competitions; FIFA stats really.
Martial has made a strong case of him starting up top alongside Romelu Lukaku and after tonight’s display, Mourinho may consider sticking to the current tactics. Anthony arguably put in his best game yet this season and not surprisingly, it was as a striker. What does Jose do now?
