Manchester United’s Swedish sensation Zlatan Ibrahimovic may yet return sooner than expected according to a report from The Sun.
The tall striker was initially ruled out of action until the start of the next year after sustaining an injury during Manchester United’s Europa League campaign last season.
Ibrahimovic’s contract was then allowed to expire and he was subsequently released from the club with many believing his time at Old Trafford was done.
However, Jose Mourinho insisted the plan was always to allow Zlatan to recover at his own pace and if The Sun are to believed, that pace is at a staggering rate.
In fact, the British newspaper claims the former PSG man will return to full training as early as the end of October.
With Mourinho conceding he’ll be unable to rest Romelu Lukaku until Ibrahimovic’s return, this will be good news for all to hear.
Although Lukaku has been rested previously in favour of Marcus Rashford, it seems Jose sees Ibrahimovic more as a direct competitor than the Englishman.
The Sun also report that Ibrahimovic has been active at the club’s training base, practising running and shooting while his regime continues to increase in intensity.
With Zlatan apparently at 80 per cent of his maximum condition, Romelu may have his rivalry with the Swede ignited sooner rather than later.
Should Ibrahimovic replicated his form last season, it’s unlikely any United fans will complain of his return. It’s more likely they’ll applaud it and hope to see both strikers firing the club to glory.
