Spanish midfielder Juan Mata addressed Manchester United fans once more on his website after the club’s win against Crystal Palace.
Mata had converted a cross from Marcus Rashford to open his account for United this season after hitting the woodwork in previous games.
The former Valencia man has typically just about reaches double figures in most of the seasons he’s participated in during his career.
That reason was of course why former Manchester United manager David Moyes bought Mata from Chelsea during his turbulent stint.
Since then Juan has won over the Red Devils supporters with his kind words and actions but has called for more of the same from his teammates.
Speaking about the situation, Mata said: “The challenge now is to maintain this level for months, to try to get enough consistency to achieve big goals.”
Mata later added: “Scoring goals has always been an important aspect of my game, although I’m not a striker, and I hope to help the team again this season with as many goals as I can.”
The tricky playmaker has certainly been paying attention to his manager’s call for more goals and assists from his front four.
Scoring his first goal for the season in the Premier League will surely help him kick on to add more to his name.
Despite often being played out of position during his time at Old Trafford, Mata still consistently puts up good numbers with Mourinho even deciding against selling him once more.
He’s proven a crucial player in the manager’s game-plan and should he continue his good form, it’s unlikely fans will see Juan go anywhere.
As the club’s competition for places continues to heat up, the Spaniard will need to make sure he’s firing on all cylinders.
However, he’s proven a little versatile and that flexibility may allow him to be more useful than his teammates. Either way, fans will love to see more goals from their Spanish maestro.
