Romelu Lukaku’s value rises by £50m after brilliant start to Manchester United career

Romelu Lukaku’s estimated value has increased more than any other player in Europe’s big-five leagues due to his stunning early-season goalscoring form, according to the CIES Football Observatory.

The Belgian striker has scored 11 goals in first 10 games for Man United, including seven in seven league games.

CIES specialise in the ‘scientific estimation of professional players’ transfer value’ and their valuation of Lukaku has risen by €56m since July 2017.

Lukaku signed for United for an initial £75million in a summer deal which could eventually end up costing the Reds a further £15m.

CIES, in their Weekly Post released every Monday, revealed that Lukaku’s estimated value has risen from €102.7m to €158.4m.

Lukaku is not alone in seeing his value rise significantly. Joining him are Kylian Mbappé after his move to Paris Saint-Germain and Paulo Dybala who has been in equally brilliant form for Juventus.

The 24-year-old Lukaku was described as a ‘bargain’ by United legend Roy Keane recently.

Signed relatively early on in the transfer window, United managed to sign one of their top targets for a reasonable fee and have reaped the rewards extraordinarily quickly, with Lukaku currently out on his own as top goalscorer in the Premier League.
