Manchester United’s medical team have reportedly banned star midfielder Paul Pogba from playing basketball recreationally in fear of the Frenchman injuring himself.

The 24-year-old Man United man is currently mid-recovery in a serious hamstring injury which could rule him out until December.

Pogba suffered the problem in United’s first UEFA Champions League game, a 3-0 win against FC Basel, as he captained the side. He was substituted off after just 19 minutes.

United are yet to give any details on Pogba’s injury, and media estimations have stretched from a further two weeks to a further two months.

The Sun reports that United’s medical team have banned Pogba from playing basketball, believing it could aggravate the midfielder’s hamstring injuries, and have a stress impact on his knees and ankles.

Pogba spent the summer in the USA, often with friends of his from the NBA, and played the sport alongside summer signing Romelu Lukaku.

United have already had frustrations with Pogba’s personal fitness regime. The player has a personal trainer not aligned to the club, and Jose Mourinho was reportedly angry with the arrangement after his hamstring injury.
