Romelu Lukaku’s off-the-pitch behaviour has been hailed by young Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe.
The Belgian striker arrived at Old Trafford this summer for £75m and has put in the performances to make that deal seem a bargain, scoring 11 goals in his first 10 games for the club.
Yet Tuanzebe has revealed the 24-year-old’s influence in the dressing room, too.
Speaking to MUTV, Tuanzebe said that “for us as a team, Romelu has been magnificent. He’s been the standout guy as the big man up top.”
That is well known, but Tuanzebe continued, saying that Lukaku has “settled in very well.”
“He can speak about seven languages so he can interact with everyone in the squad.
“He’s been a big inspiration to the team and a good role model. He’s a really good guy and off the pitch, he talks to everyone and I think that’s a great attribute to have.”
Tuanzebe’s words are excellent to hear. Lukaku has demonstrated his worth on the pitch to United fans, but to hear his off-the-pitch qualities is fantastic.
Already friends with Paul Pogba, it’s unsurprising that Lukaku has settled in easily, also knowing Marouane Fellaini already from the Belgium set-up.
But the striker’s has struck up a fantastic relationship with Marcus Rashford, the pair publicly speaking of the instant click they felt when working with each other.
Putting in performances on the pitch, and seemingly playing a big part in the dressing room off it, Lukaku has been a wonderful signing for United.
