From France: Paris Saint Germain ready to launch bid for David de Gea

by Leo Nieboer

Paris Saint Germain are weighing up a bid for Manchester United’s David de Gea next summer, according to reports from France.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a superb start to the 2017/18 campaign under Jose Mourinho, claiming eight clean sheets in ten appearances.

Talk of a move to Real Madrid inevitably surfaced once again over the summer but the 26-year-old, who hasn’t conceded a goal at Old Trafford since April, has shown little interest in pushing for a move elsewhere with Man United playing Champions League football this season.

But according to French media outlet Le10 Sport, PSG’s wealthy Qatari owners will make efforts to present De Gea with an offer he can’t refuse over the summer.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi spent last summer forging his own version of the ‘Galacticos’, signing superstars like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Dani Alves to rival the established grandeur of Real Madrid.

And neither Kevin Trapp nor Alphonse Areola, whilst hardly poor keepers, simply don’t align with the astronomical standards set by the Paris club anymore.

No surprises, therefore, that they have target De Gea. He is, after all, the most high-profile keeper on the planet at this given time and Jose Mourinho cannot let the French giants have him without a fight.
